Depending on the circumstances, a customer may be entitled to return a product because:
The product is defective or unsafe;
The product does not meet applicable quality requirements;
The wrong product was supplied;
The product is materially different from the description provided;
The product was damaged before or during delivery;
The customer exercises an applicable statutory cooling-off right; or
Another return right applies under South African law.
Each type of return is dealt with below.
SASwift recognises the statutory implied warranty applicable to consumer goods under the Consumer Protection Act 68 of 2008 (CPA).
Where goods fail to satisfy the applicable requirements relating to quality, working order, freedom from defects, suitability or durability, a consumer may generally return the goods within six months after delivery, subject to the requirements of the CPA.
Where the statutory requirements are met, the consumer may direct the supplier to:
Repair the goods;
Replace the goods; or
Refund the price paid for the goods.
The applicable statutory remedy will be provided in accordance with the consumer’s rights under the CPA.
Customers should contact SASwift as soon as reasonably possible after discovering a defect.

A product may be considered defective where, among other circumstances, it:
Does not function as reasonably expected;
Has a material manufacturing fault;
Is unsafe;
Does not conform to the applicable description;
Is not reasonably suitable for its intended purpose; or
Fails to meet applicable quality requirements.
The circumstances of the particular product and transaction will be considered when assessing a return.
A product does not necessarily constitute a defect simply because a customer:
Changes their mind;
No longer wants the product;
Prefers a different colour or design;
Finds another product at a lower price; or
Decides that the product does not suit their personal preference.
Statutory rights and remedies remain unaffected.
A return for a defect may not apply where the problem resulted from circumstances such as:
Incorrect use;
Failure to follow reasonable product instructions;
Accidental damage;
Negligence;
Abuse or misuse;
Unauthorised modifications or repairs;
Damage occurring after delivery through the customer’s actions; or
Normal wear and tear where applicable.
This does not affect any rights the consumer may have where the problem was caused by an inherent defect or other circumstance for which SASwift or another responsible party is legally liable.
If you receive a product that is different from the product you ordered, please contact us as soon as reasonably possible.
Please provide:
Your order number;
A description of the problem; and
Photographs of the product and packaging where appropriate.
Where SASwift supplied the incorrect product, we will arrange an appropriate remedy, which may include:
Collection or return of the incorrect product;
Delivery of the correct product, where available; or
A refund.
Where the incorrect product was supplied by SASwift, reasonable return or collection arrangements will be made without unfairly placing the cost of correcting our error on the customer.
Customers should inspect their parcel as soon as reasonably possible after delivery.
If a product arrives visibly damaged, please contact us promptly at:
Please provide photographs showing:
The outer packaging;
Any visible damage;
The product;
The product packaging; and
Any relevant labels or delivery information.
Photographs help us investigate the matter with the courier or other relevant service provider.
Where the damage occurred before the product reached the customer and the customer is entitled to a remedy, SASwift will provide the applicable remedy in accordance with South African law.
Certain electronic transactions are subject to a statutory cooling-off right under the Electronic Communications and Transactions Act 25 of 2002 (ECTA).
Where section 44 applies, a consumer may cancel a qualifying transaction for goods without giving a reason and without penalty within seven days after receipt of the goods. The direct cost of returning the goods may be charged to the consumer.
Where payment has already been made, the applicable refund must be processed in accordance with the statutory requirements.
The cooling-off right is subject to the provisions and exclusions contained in applicable legislation.
This right is separate from the consumer’s rights relating to defective or non-conforming goods.
A change-of-mind return means that the customer simply no longer wants the product, even though the product is not defective and SASwift supplied the correct item.
Outside any statutory cooling-off right or other legal entitlement, SASwift does not automatically guarantee a change-of-mind return on every product.
Where SASwift voluntarily offers a change-of-mind return for a particular product, the applicable conditions will be communicated to the customer.
These conditions may include requirements relating to:
The condition of the product;
Original packaging;
Accessories;
Manuals or documentation;
Seals or protective packaging; and
Whether the product has been used.
Any voluntary change-of-mind return policy will not override statutory consumer rights.
Certain products may be subject to special return considerations because of their nature.
This may include products such as:
Hygiene-related products;
Personal-use products;
Sealed products where opening the packaging affects health or hygiene considerations;
Products that have been used;
Products made or modified specifically for a customer; or
Other products where applicable legislation provides an exception.
Where a statutory exception applies, SASwift will apply the relevant legal requirements.
A statutory right relating to defective or unsafe goods will not be excluded merely because a product falls into a particular product category.
To request a return, contact:
Please include:
Your full name;
Order number;
Product name;
Date of purchase or delivery;
Reason for the return;
Description of the problem; and
Photographs or other supporting information where relevant.
For defective, damaged or incorrect products, photographs may allow SASwift to assess the issue before arranging a return.
Customers should not send products back without first contacting SASwift unless otherwise instructed or required by law.
Once a return request has been received, SASwift may request additional information to determine the appropriate return process.
Where a return is approved, we will provide the customer with instructions regarding:
The return method;
Collection arrangements where applicable;
Packaging requirements;
The return address or collection point; and
Any reference number required for the return.
This process helps us track the return and ensure that the appropriate product is assessed.
Customers should package returned products appropriately to prevent damage during transportation.
Where reasonably possible, the product should be returned with:
Original packaging;
Accessories;
Manuals;
Cables;
Components;
Warranty documentation; and
Other items supplied with the product.
A customer should not be denied a statutory remedy merely because original packaging is unavailable where the law does not permit such a condition.
Where a return is required because:
The wrong product was supplied;
The product arrived damaged;
The product is defective and the customer is exercising an applicable statutory right; or
SASwift is otherwise responsible for the return,
SASwift will make reasonable arrangements regarding the return and applicable costs in accordance with the law.
Where a customer voluntarily returns an unwanted product outside a statutory right, the customer may be responsible for the direct cost of returning the product.
Where ECTA’s cooling-off right applies, the consumer may be responsible for the direct cost of returning the goods as provided by the Act.
Returned products may be inspected to determine the nature of the problem and the appropriate remedy.
Inspection may include checking:
The product’s physical condition;
Whether the reported fault exists;
Whether the product corresponds with the order;
Whether components or accessories are present;
Whether damage occurred before or after delivery; and
Whether the problem is consistent with normal use or misuse.
Inspection does not remove or reduce any statutory consumer rights.
Where a refund is due, SASwift will process the refund using an appropriate payment method, generally through or back to the original payment method where reasonably possible.
Refund processing times may depend on:
The payment provider;
Banking processes;
The time required to inspect a returned product;
The nature of the return; and
Applicable legal requirements.
Customers will be informed where additional information is required to process a refund.
Where the original transaction was processed through PayFast or Yoco, refunds may be processed through the relevant payment system or another appropriate method.
The time taken for the refunded amount to reflect in the customer’s account may depend on the relevant payment provider and the customer’s bank.
SASwift does not control the processing time of a customer’s bank or third-party payment provider.
Where a replacement is appropriate and the same product is available, SASwift may arrange for the product to be replaced.
If the original product is no longer available, an appropriate alternative remedy will be considered in accordance with the customer’s rights and applicable law.
Where a statutory remedy gives the consumer a choice between repair, replacement or refund, SASwift will respect the applicable statutory requirements.
Where repair is selected or otherwise forms part of the applicable remedy, SASwift may arrange for the product to be assessed or repaired by an appropriate service provider.
If a repaired product subsequently develops a qualifying further defect or the original problem is not properly remedied, further remedies may apply under the CPA. Section 56 provides additional protections where a repaired product develops the same or another qualifying defect within the statutory period.
Products purchased during sales or promotional periods may still carry the consumer rights and remedies required by South African law.
A product does not lose its statutory warranty merely because it was purchased at a discounted price.
However, where a discount relates to a condition or characteristic that was clearly disclosed before purchase and accepted by the customer, the applicable circumstances may be considered when determining a return.
The original purchaser should ordinarily initiate a return or refund request because the transaction and payment records are associated with the purchaser.
Where a gift recipient requires assistance with a defective or incorrect product, they may contact SASwift and provide sufficient information for us to locate and assess the relevant order.
Where a customer wishes to exchange a product for another product, the availability of an exchange will depend on:
The reason for the return;
The condition of the product;
Product availability; and
Applicable statutory rights.
Where the law provides a consumer with a right to a refund, repair or replacement, a voluntary exchange policy will not replace that statutory right.
If an order is cancelled before dispatch and SASwift accepts the cancellation, any refund due will generally be processed using the original payment method or another appropriate payment method.
Where cancellation is governed by a statutory right, the applicable legal requirements will apply.
If SASwift accepts payment for a product and subsequently determines that the product cannot be supplied, we will contact the customer regarding the available options.
Where the customer is entitled to a refund, the applicable amount will be refunded.
Where a customer is entitled to a refund of the purchase price, the treatment of delivery charges will depend on the reason for the return and the applicable legal requirements.
Where SASwift is responsible for supplying an incorrect, defective or otherwise non-conforming product, applicable consumer rights will be respected.
For voluntary returns that are not based on a statutory right, delivery charges may not be refundable.
SASwift reserves the right to investigate suspicious or potentially fraudulent return requests.
This may include situations involving:
Repeated fraudulent claims;
Deliberate product damage;
Product substitution;
False statements;
Abuse of promotional offers;
Unauthorised return shipments; or
Other conduct intended to obtain a refund unlawfully.
Nothing in this section limits a genuine consumer’s statutory rights.
If goods are supplied to a consumer without having been ordered, the consumer’s rights under applicable South African law will apply.
SASwift will investigate any report of goods that a customer believes were supplied without authorisation.
Customers should contact:
If you are dissatisfied with the handling of a return or refund, please contact us first:
Please include your order number and details of the complaint so that we can investigate the matter.
SASwift will make reasonable efforts to resolve legitimate complaints fairly and in accordance with applicable law.
Nothing in this policy prevents a consumer from exercising any statutory right to approach an appropriate consumer-protection or dispute-resolution body.
This policy is intended to operate consistently with the Consumer Protection Act 68 of 2008.
In particular, the statutory implied warranty provisions relating to the quality of goods remain applicable. Section 56 provides that, within six months after delivery, qualifying defective goods may be returned without penalty and at the supplier’s risk and expense, with the consumer directing the applicable repair, replacement or refund remedy.
Where there is a conflict between this policy and a mandatory provision of applicable law, the applicable law will prevail.
Because SASwift operates as an online store, the Electronic Communications and Transactions Act 25 of 2002 (ECTA) may also apply to transactions conducted through the website.
Where applicable, customers will be afforded the rights provided under ECTA, including the statutory cooling-off provisions for qualifying electronic transactions.
SASwift may update this Returns & Refund Policy from time to time to reflect:
Changes in our products;
Changes in our return procedures;
Changes in payment or delivery arrangements;
Changes in applicable legislation; or
Changes to our business operations.
The latest version will be published on this page together with the applicable effective date.
